A reading challenge is a great way to discover a new author or genre, to find a new series, or discover a classic! Take our reading challenge and let us know what you discover!
Remember to keep reading over our break! The students promised me that they would read every day 🙂 If you’re looking for something new to read, check out our Pinterest boards. Reading suggestions are constantly being added. Find a new family favorite to read and enjoy together!
We update our reading list every Friday. Make sure you check out the page to see what books we’ve read in library this week!
Our September response wall was “This Year I Will…” We had a lot of great responses. Click the link to see our word cloud of the responses we received!
The library is open, and students are back to visiting daily! We are enjoying getting to know all of the classes, and helping the students find the perfect book for them.
We did some cleaning out of the library, and we are still in the process of doing some rearranging. We hope the students will enjoy all of the changes we make.
Be sure to check out our Pinterest and Instagram pages. We’ll be adding a Facebook page, too!
As our school year winds down, we start thinking about summer reading! Summer is a great time to try new genres, start a new series, or discover a new author. It’s important to avoid the summer slide. Keep reading to and with your children this summer.
If you’re looking for grade level suggestions, please check our Pinterest page for ideas! We have books by grade levels, and also by interest.
There are also many programs designed to help motivate our children over the summer. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County has a great summer reading program for kids and adults! You can fill out a paper or electronic log to track your reading. They also have great suggestions for every age of reader, so be sure to look for those resources.
Scholastic also has an online summer reading program. You can register your child online
Keep reading this summer!
Today, we are making sure that everyone has a poem in their pocket! Short or long; funny or serious. Make sure you have a poem to read throughout the day!
This month, our library will celebrate National Poetry Month!
Our monthly response wall is up, and we are looking for poems written by our students.
We are also reading poems from Lunch Money by Carol Diggory Shields. The students love the poems because they can relate.
Scholastic has great suggestions and activities for families looking to celebrate! http://teacher.scholastic.com/poetry/
As the cold days of February wrap up, we look forward to March, and the possibility of warm weather!
March is also Read Aloud month. We ask everyone to join in, and read aloud for at least 15 minutes each day.

For the next six days, the library transforms into the book fair. This is always a fun time for our students. Who doesn’t love cases of books?! It is always fun to see what students are reading, and new series they would like to start. Did a book fair help start your love of reading?
